CAL goes Hollywood Couture



      The College of Arts and Letters (CAL) of Bulacan State University (BSU) celebrates their College Night last February 20, 2015 Friday held at La Consolation University of the Philippines Activity Center with the “Hollywood Character” theme inspired.

        Before the beginning of the school year, students are reminded about the theme. They are the one who voted on what theme the night will be.

       Students arrived on the venue wearing the different kind and fabulous outfits. Exhibiting their creativity in terms of fashion. Others dressed like Cinderella, Maleficent, Disney Princesses, Action Stars, Super Heroes and impersonating Hollywood Personalities.

      The night started with a raffle draw, a project proposed by the PTA Members for the college vehicle that will surely help the necessities of the college. Next by the awarding of different activities that was occurred in the one week long celebration of the college, like Tinatagisan that showcasing the skills of the students in Editorial, Feature, News, Sports Writing and Photojournalism.  Afterwards is the On-Air a kind of exhibition of the students in terms of Radio Announcing and Disc Jockey. Lastly is the awarding of the winners in Sibul Film Festival, different short films made by the students from the college.

       In the night also the college recognized the excellencies of the 4th year students. They awarded the best thesis from the different sections in Broadcasting, Journalism and Theater Arts.

       On the later part of the celebration, professors randomly chooses the best costume for the night. They choice from men and women. Awarding a sash and cash prize for the effort of wearing and impersonating a character.

       On the other hand, after all the formal ceremony, the students from the college are given a chance to enjoy and rock the night. The celebration ended at exactly 4 o’clock in the morning of February 21 Saturday.

Filipino Catholic's solemnly welcomes the Lenten Season


Cross on the forehead, sign that humans came from dust,to dust they shall return.





       Catholic Christians on Ash Wednesday February 18 solemnly observed and welcome the Lenten season as the sign of their humility and faithfulness for God.

      Priests and religious people reminds every Filipino Catholics to attend the Ash Wednesday masses in every parishes. As a repentance for the souls from sins, as Jesus Christ spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation to Satan.

        Ashes are ceremonially placed on the heads, either by being sprinkled over their heads or more often by being marked on their foreheads as a visible cross.

       The common verses from the bible that Catholic’s cherish are like; “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”, (from Genesis 3:19). Sign of the ashes that being marked on the foreheads.

        In addition, this Lenten Season also reminds the time of repentance, fasting, praying and believing in the holy power of the gospel.

         Father Gerald Pangilinan from the parish of St. Peter the Apostle says in his homily; “Repent, and believe in the Gospel, ito na ang araw para umpisahan nating magnilay at magdasal sa ating Panginoon”.

         Following the right path thru the holiness and thru the teaching of the holy gospel. Remembering Jesus Christ as he suffer from death to save humans from mortal sins.

       “Iwasan nating ang tukso, tukso ng makamundong bagay. Bagong teknolohiya, tukso ng laman at tukso ng mga bagay-bagay sa paligid natin”, added by Fr. Pangilinan.

       Avoiding such things that can affect everyone believes of being catholic. He also invites everyone to practice the sacrament of confession especially in the time of the Lenten season.
